Google may finally be stepping up its smartphone game with its Nexus range of devices--up to five new handsets--within the month, according to reports from Web site Android and Me is reporting.
The site says it has credible reports from three different anonymous industry sources, and that all signs are pointing to LG as one of the manufacturers. The design of the Nexus handset from LG is said to be based on the Optimus G, and if so, we're guessing this will be a very sexy handset given our time with the unit last month.
While previous handsets have launched with a new version of the OS, it seems like this will not be the case this time. The Nexus handsets will not launch with Android 5.0, instead it will be a point release of Jelly Bean, and likely to be called Android 4.2. The handsets will also be unveiled by Android chief Andy Rubin at All Things D's Dive Into Mobile event on October 29 to 30 in New York. Stay tuned.
