Nokia Oro smartphone blings with 18-carat gold, Sapphire

Nokia Oro

After launching two dual SIM, budget-friendly phones yesterday namely Nokia X1-01 and C2-00, Nokia has now unboxed a premium handset. The company’s all-new Nokia Oro smartphone is incorporated with scratch-free 18 carat gold plating, a sapphire crystal and leather from one of Scotland’s finest Caledonian herds.

The phone works on Symbian-based software and also has the most recent Symbian Anna update. The Oro enables users to enjoy HSDPA 3G and Wi-Fi support. The device comes with a 3.5-inch AMOLED display, pentaband radio connectivity and an 8-megapixel camera with 720p video recording to provide an excellent viewing experience.

Nokia’s General Manager for Russia, Gabriel Speratti, commented, “Premium products like Nokia Oro have always been best sellers in Russia. We have a large number of users who are looking for products with a build quality and superior materials that attest to their success and social standing. In some areas, possession of such premium products is the passport to being taken seriously.”

For people who intend to have a phone very different from others, Nokia Ora can be a perfect choice. Middle-east and Russia are the main targeted markets where the luxury phones have done well and the premium phones have been successful.

“Our aim was to use the best materials for the purpose. It’s coated with 18-carat gold which has been made scratch-resistant. The leather is from premium Scottish stock. That’s a real sapphire crystal in the home key, which makes it eight times sturdier than glass.” quoted Gabriel Speratti.
Generally users have difficulty in prioritizing bold glamorous looks over its functionality. Nokia Oro is said to be a blend of both. Customers looking for such a phone would be more interested in its quality and material used than its price.

The Nokia Oro is set to cost EUR 800, before local taxes and operator subsidies. Nokia aims to start selling the handset in select countries across Europe, Eastern Europe, China and the Middle East in Q3 2011.
